The Indiana Association of Biology Teachers (IABT) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing information, support, and opportunities for Indiana biology teachers. We are an affiliate of the National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT).
As a Hoosier science organization, we maintain a wonderful relationship with our sister organization the Hoosier Association of Science Teachers, Inc. (HASTI). In turn HASTI is an affiliate of the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA).
Together, we try to have a positive and progressive impact on skillful, innovative, and meaningful science education in Indiana.
This weblog is offered to help get news and information out to biology teachers across Indiana – and beyond. We expect and intend to use this Blog to post upcoming meetings & events, to alert you to and advertise for professional development opportunities, to submit reviews of teaching materials such as DVDs, books, and so on – and we hope to even teach a little biology!
There may be opportunity for “discussion” as we analyze the use of this site and determine how best to handle “commenting.” Stay tuned and check in often. If you have the notion, you may want to add this blog in your RSS feed alerts. We will publish here long before we generate enough text to send out a snail-mail hard-copy or even a complete electronic newsletter.
Poke around a bit and let us know what you’d like to see. Contact the editor at: IABT.mail@gmail.com
My name is Scott Read and I am a former teacher and administrator in NJ and NY. I now live in the Western NY area and work for a company called Tactus Technologies. Tactus developed V-FROG, the world’s first virtual reality-based frog dissection simulation designed for biology education that promises to deliver a learning experience comparable to conventional frog dissection, without the associated safety risks and moral concerns. Is there a way for us to work collaboratively to promote this product or a way for members to view and download a demo of V-FROG to see if it is suitable for their curriculum? Our website is http://www.vfrog.net.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you to discuss ways in which we can work together. Thank you for your time and anticipated response.
Sincerely,
Scott H. Read
